Starter Homes and Affordable Housing in the Policy Address / Transport Subsidy

On Tuesday's Backchat, starter homes. Carrie Lam and the administration have outlined a plan for developers to build flats for middle class first time buyers. there will be a consultation on pricing, flat sizes and details concerning owners reselling the properties. Is it a good way to support would be homeowners or a subsidy for the already well-off? Is this the right time to build home ownership? How can the Government work fruitfully with developers without collusion? Is increasing plot ratio in some low density sites in the NT the best way forward? Call us on 23388266 or email backchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, cheap fares with your octopus.

Animal Extinction / South Island MTR Line

On  Backchat, animal extinction. It's been claimed the world is facing the biggest extinction since the dinosaurs, with seven in 10 mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles wiped out in just 50 year. Giraffes, reindeer and elephants are among the more prominent examples of species under threat. What is causing this massive die-off? Deforestation, hunting, pollution, overfishing or climate change? Why does it matter, and can we reverse things? Call us on 23388266 or email backchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, short trains on the South Island line. (8:30-9:30am, call in on 233 88 266, email backchat@rthk.hk or text 6393 5925)
