Solar Energy and Solar Panel Scheme / Is Uber insured?

On Tuesday's Backchat - just a week before our Mayday special - we talk about the solar panel scheme. The administration has proposed a 'Feed-in Tariff' to encourage the private sector and the community to consider investing in distributed renewal energy - like solar. The power generated from your rooftop could be sold at a rate higher than the normal electricity tariff rate to the power companies to cover the cost of investments in the panels. Who might use this, and is it practical? Will the rules on illegal structures have to be loosened? If the scheme is to be successful, will it have to be simplified? If tariffs rise, is it fair? Call us with your comments on 23388266 or email backchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, is Uber insured?

Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng’s Illegal Structure Saga / North Korea joins the Winter Olympics

    主持人:Hugh Chiverton and Danny Gittings

On Friday's Backchat, should Teresa Cheng step down? The CE in Legco has called for more tolerance towards her new Secretary for Justice over the illegal structures scandal  . The SJ says she did not know the structures were illegal. Mortgage documents in the press show no mention of the basement area that was found by inspectors this week. Is it a minor infraction that should be treated calmly according to usual procedures with no penalty other than restitution and a slap on the wrists? Should we be more tolerant to someone just entering the political sphere? Would it be in Hong Kong's best interest to remove a talented individual from public service? Will Carrie Lam simply ignore the complaints, because there is nothing compelling her to listen to them? Call us on 23388266 or email backchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, North Korea joins the winter Olympics.
