    Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

On Friday's Backchat, we're talking about urban development and city clusters in mainland China. President Xi Jinping has stressed the importance of the city cluster concept  as an engine to drive economic growth. China plans to boost regional development for a total of 19 clusters by 2020, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. What are the potential benefits for developing megacities? Will this coordinated urban development attract more talent, labour, public services, housing and transport development? How likely will this be to boost economic growth and productivity in the region? And what about the potential environmental threats such as air pollution? Leave us a message, or email us at backchat@rthk.hk, or call us on 23388266.

Fight against Scams, Cons and Swindles / Xi Jin-ping’s plan on innovation and technology

    主持人:Hugh Chiverton and Paul Letters

On Wednesday's Backchat, cons, swindles and scams. While overall crime figures drop in Hong Kong, cases of fraud are holding steady or rising, while the sophistication and variety of tricks increases. There are romance scams, cons for job seekers and would-be investors, dodgy loans and lotteries, naked chat blackmails, street deceptions and social media traps, ID spoofing, phone frauds and fake mooncake redemption coupons. Now the Police have a dedicated Anti-Deception Co-ordination Centre which keeps track of trends, and a dedicated hotline. Are they making a difference? Are we more prone to being conned than other places? How can we stop the tide of tricksters? Have you ever been had? Call us on 23388266 or email backchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, Xi Jinping and innovation and technology.
