Toll Adjustment of Harbour Crossings / Safety Risks for Marathon Runners

On Friday's Backchat, the tunnels. About 40 lawmakers including those from the pro-establishment parties may abstain or vote against the Government when it tables its non-binding motion on toll adjustment of the city's three harbour crossings at Legco next Wednesday.  Officials warn the Government would scrap the plan instead of making alternative proposals should it be vetoed. Is this payback for Carrie Lam? Should legislators support a measure that could reduce traffic, and pollution? Should we wait and see what happens when the Central by-pass is opened? Could you alter the difference between tunnels without doubling the price at the most popular crossing?  After 9.20, safety risks for marathon runners.

New Alliance to Contest Rural Elections / Chinese Exiled Writer Ma Jian Banned by Jockey Club at Tai Kwun

    主持人:Hugh Chiverton and Rachel Cartland

On Friday's Backchat, politics in the New Territories. Localist legislator Eddie Chu formed the Village Charter Alliance on Wednesday with five other members from different districts. The group is planning to take part in the rural representative election in January, and to reform rural politics and fight against village patriarchs and the Heung Yee Kuk who long hold the political power in hand over the rural areas in the New Territories. What do they want exactly, and what's the state of rural politics? Should they swear to uphold the Basic Law and could some members be disqualified? Will it bring unwelcome urban-style politics to villages?

After 9:20, the writer Ma Jian being banned by the Jockey Club at Tai Kwun.
