Car Parking Spaces / Preview of 19th Communist Party Congress

On Wednesday's Backchat, car parking. While the number of cars on our roads in increasing, the number of places for them to park is steady, causing a parking squeeze. The Government suggests loading areas and even slow lanes of quiet roads can be be parking lots at night. But is the number of vehicles the real issue, and if so, how do we solve it? Are young people really buying cars because they cant get flats? What about parking at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge? Is it fair to blitz illegal parking when its hard to find legal places? Should car licenses have to have a parking place - a requirement in some other cities? Or do more spaces just mean more cars? Call us on 23388266 or email backchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, the 19th Party Congress opens in Beijing.
