    Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam has given her maiden policy address under the theme of “hope and happiness.” Mrs. Lam outlined how she would use some of Hong Kong’s HK$1 trillion of fiscal reserves to boost competitiveness, turn Hong Kong into a smart city and create affordable housing.

    Joining today’s Money Talk to provide their analysis of the policy address are Enzio von Pfeil of Odyssey Capital and Peter Churchouse, author of The Churchouse Letter.

    IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has urged global leaders not to reject international trade. That comes as Donald Trump says he could envisage a trade deal with Canada but not with Mexico.     Peter Churchouse, author of The Churchouse Letter says the property measures outlined in the Policy Address fail to address the core problems in Hong Kong of inadequate land and housing supply.
