10/11/2018 - Skills to survive rise of automation

Whether we like it or not, automation is coming to the workplace. Just like in the previous industrial revolution, this technological revolution will make millions of jobs redundant. But many new jobs will be simultaneously created in the process as well. You’ll probably be wondering how will humans create value in an increasingly automated world. And what skills are needed to navigate this monumental shift in the economy and to future proof your career? Peter Lewis talked to Prof Kam-Fai Wong, from the Faculty of Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong for more.

10/11/2018 - Tax payment

We’re moving into the middle of November and you should have received your tax assessment and know how much tax you need to pay early next year. Our listener Sandy is one of them and she had some questions about the tax requirements from a business she set up. Jimmy Lam spoke to Sandy and also went to speak to Michael Chung, Founder of CK Tax, to see what he would advise Sandy to do.

2 weeks ago, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks organised the third annual Elevator Pitch Competition for the international start up community. 100 entrepreneurs from 24 countries were invited to pitch their idea to investors and industry experts in a 60-second elevator ride at the International Commerce Centre. It was an intensively competitive yet fun-filled event. Ten finalists were then selected to face a panel of judges and potential angel investors with another 3-minute pitch on the 100th floor of the ICC. The eventual champion was Los Angeles based DASH Systems.

Peter Lewis went along to the event and spoke to Joel Ifill, the CEO and founder of DASH Systems.

On this Saturday's Money Talk Xtra, presenter Peter Lewis looks at one aspect of Financial Technology that’s changing the way we pay for goods and services. The digital wallet. Jimmy Lam meets a Money Talk Xtra listener who wants to ask her boss for a pay rise and needs some advice on the best way to go about it. Finally, we’re going to continue our series of interviews with entrepreneurs. This week’s there’s a twist because Peter meets not one but three budding entrepreneurs who were finalists in a recent elevator pitch competition organised by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks. And they’re all aged between 8 and 12 years old.
