Peter went along and spoke to some of the experts there about financial literacy and key investment trends and risks. Later in the programme, Jimmy Lam speaks to a young listener who had a terrible investing experience and gets advice on what she can do about it.

13/10/2018 - World Investor Week 2018 and financial literacy

A week ago, it was World Investor Week, a global campaign promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection. Around the world, securities regulators held a range of investor education and protection activities for investors and the general public. Here in Hong Kong, the Chin Family co-hosted an investor education seminar with Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing. Peter Lewis went along and spoke to Kelvin Wong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Investor Education Centre.

As Kelvin just explained, financial literacy and getting good, independent advice are two key elements in managing your personal finances. Unfortunately, Money Talk Xtra listener Carmen, had a bad investing experience. She told Jimmy Lam about it. Jimmy also went to speak to independent consultant Roman Chan for his advice.
