Sunday Escape

Carolyn Wright and Paul Haswell (AKA the Pop Fugitives) are plotting to make their Escape every Sunday morning between 9.30 and 1.

Carrying on from where they left off on Saturday nights on RTHK Radio 3, join them to hear excellent music, including tracks from their album of the week, as well as interviews and live music in the studio about upcoming events they think you ought to hear about, plus a selection of their favourite tracks from a different year each week.

Added to that they’ll be reviewing new movies, alongside much irreverent chit chat and interviews about food, drink and fun in HK, there’ll even be a bit of sport!

BOUND and Ms Banks

This Sunday the Pop Fugitives will be joined in the studio by photographer Jo Farrell. Her exhibition, BOUND, which is on at the HK Museum of Medical Sciences, documents the last of the women who underwent foot binding. The tradition died out last century, but Jo has spent years travelling around China, getting these women to tell their stories and allowing her to photograph their feet.

They'll also be rounding up all the action from this weekend's Sonar festival, including catching up with rising London based hip hop star Ms Banks.

As ever, there will also be heaps of new music, album of the week, what's in the box set and biscuits. There may even be a tribute to Ken Dodd!

Gravel and Chuchel

This Sunday the Pop Fugitives will be catching up on a double dose of new music following their week off, including new releases they are particularly excited about by Blossoms and Superorganism. This week also saw the announcement of the list of releases for Record Store Day 2018 - they'll be delving into that, looking into what's really worth buying and what is just a gimmick this time around. Scented vinyl anyone?
There will also be an extra dose of gaming with Paul playing Gravel, the off-road "extreme" driving challenge. Can it compare with the myriad of other driving games out there? And does it have a good soundtrack? Carolyn will be faceing a completely different challenge, solving puzzles and challenges to grab the cherry in the new comedy adventure game Chuchel.
As usual they'll also be discovering what's in the box set, picking their album of the week, and Carolyn is hoping Paul brought back some good biscuits from the UK!
