Carolyn Wright and Paul Haswell (AKA the Pop Fugitives) are plotting to make their Escape every Sunday morning between 9.30 and 1.
Carrying on from where they left off on Saturday nights on RTHK Radio 3, join them to hear excellent music, including tracks from their album of the week, as well as interviews and live music in the studio about upcoming events they think you ought to hear about, plus a selection of their favourite tracks from a different year each week.
Added to that they’ll be reviewing new movies, alongside much irreverent chit chat and interviews about food, drink and fun in HK, there’ll even be a bit of sport!
This Sunday the Pop Fugitives will be joined in the studio by Paul Cook. Not only is he the drummer in the punk band, The Professionals, who are set to play Grappa's on Monday, he was also one of The Sex Pistols. In honour of that, and to pay tribute to Pete Shelley of another legendary band, Buzzcocks, who sadly passed away this week, aged only 63, they'll be playing a whole heap of punk classics.
Plus Paul has been playing Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a game in which Nintendo characters bash each other senseless. The question is, who will Paul choose to play as. Carolyn won't be at all surprised if that happens to be Yoshi.
They'll also be sifting through the new releases, in the hope that they aren't all Christmas songs, playing the best of them, choosing an album of the week and eating biscuits.
This week the Pop Fugitives have been watching Hereditary, which in a traditional HK way, has made it to blu-ray before arriving in the cinema. It tells the dark tale of what happens to Annie Graham's family following her mother's death. She's an artist who creates incredibly detailed miniature houses, who has faced a huge amount of family trauma in the past and thinks she sees her mother's ghost as soon as she returns from the funeral.
Plus Paul has been playing the latest in a very long series of role playing games, Dragon Quest XI, and the saga of release dates seems almost as complicated as the game itself.
They'll also be paying tribute to Conway Savage, pianist in the Bad Seeds, a band they both love, plus cinematic legend Burt Reynolds, because he was awesome.
Of course there will also be a heap of new music, their album of the week, and biscuits!
