Extradition and the police action on June 12th

On Thursday's Backchat, more on the extradition bill with a focus on the police action on June 12th. Was the use of weapons appropriate? Should we set up an independent inquiry to investigate the police's use of force? Was the assembly a riot or not, and why does that matter? Could people wearing helmets to join clashes with police be charged with rioting? Can the police arrest patients in public hospitals? Is the complaints procedure fair and robust?

Carrie Lam on the Extradition Bill

    主持人:Danny Gittings and Andrew Work

On Tuesday's Backchat, Chief Executive Carrie Lam refuses to back down over the extradition bill despite Hong Kong’s biggest street protest in decades. But how much damage has the controversy done to her ability to govern? Are potential successors already eyeing the Chief Executive’s position? And how far will opponents go in their efforts to stop the bill when the government tries to push it through the Legislative Council on Wednesday?

Leave a message below and we'll try and read it out on air. Leave a message below, email us at backchat@rthk.hk or call us on 23388266.
