    Backchat -IPCC international experts

On Thursday's Backchat we'll be discussing the Independent Police Complaints Council after the International Experts panel decided to 'formally stand aside from its role'. The panel members said there was a 'crucial shortfall' in the powers of the IPCC - so where does that leave the study now? What about Carrie Lam's proposed “independent review committee”, and the Commission of Inquiry demanded by protesters?

Backchat - Budget deficit and long-term economic outlook of HK

    主持人:Hugh Chiverton and Rachel Cartland

On Wednesday's Backchat, what are the long term effects of the protests on our economy? FS Paul Chan said on Monday that Hong Kong may record a budget deficit this financial year – the first one in 15 years and that  social unrest has dealt a blow to the economy. Carrie Lam said on Tuesday that the passage of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act in Washington has created "an unstable environment" in the SAR, affecting business confidence.  Can Hong Kong overcome challenges ahead? Will there be a light at the end of the tunnel? What should the Administration do?

8:30-9:00 David Cook, Professor of Economics, HKUST
8:30-9:00 Andy Kwan, Economist / Director of ACE Centre for Business and Economic Research
9:00-9:30 Kevin Tsui, Associate Professor of Economics, Clemson University / Economics 3.0 Author
