    The future of West Kowloon

On Thursday’s Backchat, the future of West Kowloon.

Authorities have announced they will withdraw the tender exercise for a massive mixed development in the West Kowloon Cultural District which includes retail, hotel and exhibition components.

They said the decision is based on the uncertain market economic outlook and the unsatisfactory response from the tender exercise.

What are the implications, as West Kowloon is expected to rely on income from commercial leaseholders after building? How will Covid and our economic position affect plans? Is there any demand for more hotels, grade A office space and exhibition venues? What is progress like at the long delayed project?

Get involved and let us know what you think. You can leave a message on our Facebook Backchat on RTHK Radio 3, email us at backchat@rthk.hk, or give us a call on 23388266.
