    More on National Security Law

Guangdong official Zheng Yanxiong, who handled the Wukan protests of 2011, has been appointed director of Hong Kong's powerful new national security agency, while liaison office chief Luo Huining will be Beijing's adviser on the national security committee. Does this lessen the power of the CE?

In what ways will the new legislation address the political problem in Hong Kong?  Will the timely enactment of the law for Hong Kong boost business confidence?

    National Security Law

    主持人:Hugh Chiverton and Danny Gittings

On Friday's Backchat, we'll continue to talk about the National Security Law.

The National People's Congress has approved plans for national security legislation for Hong Kong that bans “activities” that endanger national security.
The NPC’s Standing Committee will now draft the exact wording of the legislation in the coming months, before it is added to Annex III of the Basic Law and applied to Hong Kong through promulgation.
Meanwhile lists circulate online of Government supporters and opponents to be targetted by one side or another. What happens next?
