On Thursday's Backchat, should we stop eating fish? And pets and the pandemic.

'Seaspiracy', a Netflix documentary about the massive impact of industrialized commercial fishing on our oceans is making waves.  It claims that fishing has wiped out 90 percent of the world's large fish and that fishing is the greatest threat to marine wildlife. It rejects the concept of sustainable fishing and criticises several marine conservation organisations.  It recommends shifting to a plant-based diet, enforcing no-catch marine reserves, protecting 30 percent of our oceans and ending fishing subsidies.

Many have accused the film of making misleading and overstated claims, but how bad is the situation now in reality? What is the future of fishing worldwide? Is there such a thing as sustainability? Is fish farming hazardous to the environment? What's the local situation like? Should we simply give up fish for the sake of the marine environment?

From 9:15am-9:30am, we'll be discussing pets and covid. What happens to pets if we go into quarantine? Is it possible to relocate or travel overseas with animals?

How prepared are we for a new outbreak? Will it be harder or easier this time round? What more do we know now about the virus?
