On Wednesday’s Backchat, Whatsapp; and homeless people in cold weather.
The Privacy Commissioner has urged messaging service Whatsapp to put off a controversial new policy that would require users to share a host of data with its parent company, Facebook, and clearly explain how this information would be used.
According to Ada Chung, “substantial amount of personal data” will be shared with Facebook, including phone numbers, user locations, contacts, and payments and transactions made via Whatsapp.”
Should the two billion users be worried? How do you balance convenience and privacy? Is it a step too far?
From 9:15am-9:30am, we’ll join by representatives from two NGOs to talk about how homeless people are faring in the cold weather.
Let us know your thoughts, you can leave a message on our Facebook, Backchat on RTHK Radio 3, email us at backchat@rthk.hk or give us a call on 23388266.
