On Friday's Backchat, we look at what‘s to become of Hong Kong’s Covid isolation facilities.

It’s understood that the government will assess all available Covid isolation and treatment facilities and explore the possibility of converting them into transitional housing.

According to local media reports, facilities with private washrooms will be first in line — making the Kai Tak Community isolation facility a likely choice.

The idea was welcomed by housing concern groups, but others are worried about its possible impact on tourism and the development of the Kai Tak area into a business and sports hub.

After 9:15, we’ll look at how a million year old skull found on the mainland provides insight in human evolutionary.

On Tuesday's Backchat: Covid vaccinations for children.

Latest figures show that about 2.8 percent of young children aged between six months and under three years have had the Sinovac shot since it became available to the age group from August 4.
A government advisor has described the number as far from satisfactory, urging parents not to wait for a Biontech version, as Sinovac was just as good at reducing deaths and serious illness.
Meanwhile, government officials said have said they are still negotiating with Biontech to procure its children’s vaccine type, which is one-tenth the dosage of the adult version. More vaccine outreach services for kindergartens and child daycare centres will also be arranged.
After 9.00am, we’ll look at the issue of sub-divided units in industrial buildings, after the Society for Community Organisation estimated that about 12,000 households are illegally renting such spaces.
