On Friday's Backchat, we look at what‘s to become of Hong Kong’s Covid isolation facilities.

It’s understood that the government will assess all available Covid isolation and treatment facilities and explore the possibility of converting them into transitional housing.

According to local media reports, facilities with private washrooms will be first in line — making the Kai Tak Community isolation facility a likely choice.

The idea was welcomed by housing concern groups, but others are worried about its possible impact on tourism and the development of the Kai Tak area into a business and sports hub.

After 9:15, we’ll look at how a million year old skull found on the mainland provides insight in human evolutionary.

Public dental services in Hong Kong; Parkour accident

    主持人:Janice Wong and Anna Fenton

On Wednesday’s Backchat we will look at public dental services in Hong Kong, after long queues of people were spotted in recent weeks waiting outside government clinics well before they open.

Some resorted to lining up overnight to ensure they get a spot. This comes after the daily quota for public dental clinics was cut by half at the start of the yearbecause of the covid pandemic. So what’s the impact been? Are the elderly and the less well-off disproportionately affected? And with the shortage of dentists expected to remain in the short to medium term, what can be done to improve the situation?
After 0915 we will look at a tragic parkour accident that claimed the life of a teenager in Tsim Sha Tsui.
