Housing ladder enhancements / Mountaineering tourism in Nepal / Using AI to revive calligraphy

On Monday's Backchat, we talked to property experts after the Housing Authority's subsidised housing committee approved a series of measures to encourage upward mobility by enhancing the housing ladder. This includes increasing the allocation of homes under the White Form Secondary Market Scheme by 1,000 to 7,000, and cutting the resale restriction period for new subsidised sale flats from 15 to 10 years.

After the break, we learned more about Nepal's recent changes to its mountaineering tourism - after the South Asian nation announced free entry to 97 uncharted mountain peaks for the next two years, in a move to help divert crowds from popular sites like Mount Everest.

Finally, we talked a local calligraphist about the revival of a thousand-year-old damaged masterpiece using artificial intelligence.

Dead whale in Tai O / Busan meeting on plastic pollution / Plummeting heart transplant figures

    主持人:Danny Gittings and Mike Rowse

On Tuesday’s Backchat, we’re talking about the stranded whale that died in the waters off Tai O.

Experts say a bag found in the whale’s digestive system likely contributed to the death, and there were also superficial injuries on its carcass.
It’s not the first time a whale has been found dead in Hong Kong waters, with a young male dying last summer from suspected propeller injuries.
So have our waters become too dangerous for marine mammals? Will government proposals to ban some whale-watching activities help?
After 9:30, we’ll speak to environmentalists who are back from a conference in South Korea on how to reduce plastic pollution.
After 9:45, we’ll talk to a cardiologist, as Hong Kong is on track to record its lowest number of heart transplants since 2011.

9:05am-9:30am: Dead whale in Tai O

9:05am-9:30am: Taison Chang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society

9:15am-9:30am: Lydia Pang, Senior Manager,Oceans Conservation, WWF Hong Kong

9:30am-9:45am: Busan meeting on plastic pollution

    9:30am-9:45am: Leanne Tam, Greenpeace Campaigner

    9:45am-10:00am: Plummeting heart transplant figures
