Welcome to Friday on Morning Brew, where relative normality returns after quite a week. At 10.40 today composer and conductor Colin Touchin will be with us for this week’s ‘classical’ music chat. He’ll return to his normal Wednesday slot next week. Today he wants to talk about how the musical greats interpreted the weather in their work. Topical indeed, with some wonderful musical examples too. After 11 Danny Hicks will be with us for more ‘Sports and All’. And, at 12.10 it’s Marshy Movie Time. Critic James Marsh brings you the week’s hits and misses in film. Join him and Danny on Facebook live.
It's Tuesday on Morning Brew. Harvey Stockwin is still "reflecting" around the world and will be back with us in a few weeks. Straight after 10.30, Dainty Danny Hicks will give us the very latest from the 2014 World Cup. After Danny, Dr. Merrin Pearse will join us to talk to the trees (...that's why they put him away) and tell us about a very busy and important upcoming Friday. In the morning, the Town Planning Board is meeting to discuss the rezoning of landfills to allow recycling facilities, and in the afternoon, the Finance Committee of LegCo is "meant" to be considering the funding for the Shek Kwu Chau incinerator and landfill extensions. At 11.40 today, the first of two chats this week about Hong Kong's "Knowledge Of Design Week". Today, we meet Dr. Edmund Lee, the director of the HK Design Centre, and Professor (and keynote speaker) Anijo Mathew, from the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology. Some top-line live music after 12, with HK's undisputed Mambo King, Chris Polanco...and friends. (9:30am - 1:00pm, , email firstname.lastname@example.org)
