Happy New Year and welcome to Morning Brew. A big, big "thank you" to James, Todd, and Saadia for keeping things simmering over the holidays. A lot of our high level MB team are still away, so normal service will be resumed over the next few days. January 2nd is National Science Fiction Day in the USA, from where film expert and historian Sam Ho joins us at 10.40. After 11 today we will be catching up with RTL France's HK Correspondent Philippe Dova, who today reports live from Siem Reap in Cambodia. Pilates Athlete Jason Clark still away down on the farm. After 12, we welcome back our USA politics guy (and author of the Custom Maid Politics books) Peter de Krassel, to tell us about the US Government shut down, and 2018 in general. At 12.40 to wrap up the day and our journey around the world this morning, we go to Kuantan, Malaysia where Canadian adventurer and film maker Markus Pukonen is in the middle of a full-on cycling day in his quest to travel the planet without the use of power. Check out his project FB page Routes of Change.
