Welcome to Friday on Morning Brew. We have a chef of a different kind at 10.40 today. Brewer Luke Yardley of Yardley Brothers Beer fame joins us. He’ll give you a crash course in brewing, and tell the wonderful Hong Kong story of how he started his now very successful business in his living room. After 12 we’re off to the movies with James Marsh. Join him on Facebook Live for this week’s hits and misses, including Judy, Bad Boys For Life, and sifting through the Oscar Nominations. Who was snubbed? Who was unworthy? And who deserves to take home the gold statue on 9 Feb? (9:30am-1pm, email firstname.lastname@example.org and Facebook)
Good morning. On Morning Brew today, commentator Steve Vines will be with us at 10.10. This week we have conclusive proof that Elton John was wrong. It doesn’t seem to be the hardest word. Far from it actually, but the people of Hong Kong don’t seem to be convinced in the slightest by this week’s spate of theatrical self flagellation. There is now a resounding chorus of, “Annnddd?”. Join Steve with your emails, and comments below. Today is World Refugee Day. Refugee status is a hugely grey area in Hong Kong, that even the experts sometimes struggle to explain. The message seems to be “come in but we don’t want you, and we’ll make that very clear to you frequently”. At 11.10 we meet Virginie Goethals who is the co founder of RUN, a NGO for refugees that provides rehabilitation through sport, with a special focus on women who are victims of torture and sexual violence. At 11.40 our vet Dr. David Gething returns. Following on from our chat yesterday with Janice Jensen about things we like to do but our dogs may not, we talk about dosing your furry friends with supplements. After 12, we’re fashionably off to Milan for this week's wine class with JC Viens. (9:30am-1pm, email email@example.com )
