Welcome to Friday on Morning Brew. All of our chefs are cheffing today, which really can’t be a bad thing. We’ll resume the morning sitting next week with Chef Matt in San Francisco. After 11 today we hit the field with Danny Hicks for this week’s bumper edition of Sports and All. He’ll talk cricket, and the final test between Australia and India, as well as Man Utd going to the top again in football. And, after 12 movie critic James Marsh will be with us for a look at all the latest screen action... on your iPad. Join us on Facebook live throughout. Welcome to a new week on Morning Brew. Robbie McRobbie will give you all of this week’s rugby news at 10.10. After 10.30 NYC correspondent Tracy Quan wants to tell you about how a recent walk around town examining the outdoor restaurant scene led to thoughts of New York in 1969, when when Norman Mailer ran for mayor. At 11.10 we’ll meet authors (of The Silver Way) Peter Gordon and Juan José Morales, with their new book “Painter and Patron: The Maritime Silk Road in the Códice Casanatense”. Put very simply, it explores some of the hidden stories behind a set of 16th century illustrations depicting life on the ancient trade route. After 12, we’re off to the UK for two reasons. One is to listen to some music by one of the country’s foremost contemporary ensembles, but we’ll also chat to the Delta Saxophone Quartet’s baritone player, Chris Caldwell, about musical life post-Brexit and during COVID.
