Paul Haswell (AKA the Pop Fugitive) is plotting to make his Escape every Sunday morning between 9.30 and 1.
Join him every Sunday on the Sunday Escape to hear the best in music, with plenty of new records including tracks from his album of the week, as well as interviews with guests from all over the city and beyond. There’s also occasional live music in the studio plus all the details of upcoming music events in Hong Kong.
On top of all that is “Biscuit Review”, now a Sunday Escape institution, to complement the most eclectic mix of music on Radio 3.
It’s Father’s Day on Sunday, at the end of a tumultuous week, so the Sunday Escape will be doing its best to reflect that with Paul playing (possibly tenuous) dad-related records, which might be just Dire Straits but if you have any better suggestions then do message the show, as well as honouring some famous dads such as Darth Vader.
In addition to that Paul will of course be looking at all the week’s new music, with new releases from Bat For Lashes, Mattiel, The Raconteurs, Jordan Rakei and Bill Callahan, plus the release of Madonna’s latest album and indeed latest reinvention entitled “Madame X”. There’ll also be a run through of whatever else Paul has been listening to lately, as well as album of the week.
As if that wasn’t enough, Paul will also be looking at the developments coming out of E3 this week, and of course whatever biscuits happen to come his way. Tune in from 9.30am to 1pm!
Today on Sunday Escape ... it’s Easter Sunday, so expect a dubious attempt to link songs to the holiday given that Paul has thus far been unable to find what he calls “Easter carols”. To make up for that though, there’ll be loads of new music, with new album releases from Loyle Carner, Jade Bird, and an eagerly awaited album from Lizzo. One of them, surely, will be album of the week, supported by all the latest singles and whatever else has been playing at Pop Fugitive HQ.
Nashua Gallagher will be joining Paul in the studio again, not just to sample Easter eggs and biscuits but to provide more insights and reviews from the world of literature. Paul will also be looking at the increasing popularity of retro video games and consoles, following the announcement of the Capcom Home Arcade and the recent leak of specifications for the Playstation 5.
On top of all that there’ll be another splatter platter, gastronomy corner, and all the usual nonsense. Tune in live from 9.30am and you can get in touch with the show by texting 9384 1424 (Sundays, 9.30am-1pm)
