Paul Haswell (AKA the Pop Fugitive) is plotting to make his Escape every Sunday morning between 9.30 and 1.
Join him every Sunday on the Sunday Escape to hear the best in music, with plenty of new records including tracks from his album of the week, as well as interviews with guests from all over the city and beyond. There’s also occasional live music in the studio plus all the details of upcoming music events in Hong Kong.
On top of all that is “Biscuit Review”, now a Sunday Escape institution, to complement the most eclectic mix of music on Radio 3.
It’s a show full of the best in new music on this week’s Sunday Escape, as Paul goes through some of the finest releases. There are brand new records from Matt Maltese, FKA Twigs, Beck, Graham Coxon, Frank Ocean, and Alicia Keys, plus, since it’s just Paul in the studio this week, there’s a chance to go through all the new music that you may have missed. There’ll also be another album of the week, which won’t be a Christmas album despite the startling number of Christmas releases out at the beginning of November(!).
This week also sees the release of Death Stranding, the eagerly awaited new video game from Hideo Kojima which stars Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux and Mads Mikkelsen, as well as film directors Guillermo Tel Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn. Paul’s been playing it, and will give his verdict.
On top of that there’s music from the vast number of vinyl reissues, all the other random stuff Paul’s been listening to through the week, and of course in-depth biscuit reporting! Tune in from 9.30 to 1pm.
Today on Sunday Escape ... it’s Easter Sunday, so expect a dubious attempt to link songs to the holiday given that Paul has thus far been unable to find what he calls “Easter carols”. To make up for that though, there’ll be loads of new music, with new album releases from Loyle Carner, Jade Bird, and an eagerly awaited album from Lizzo. One of them, surely, will be album of the week, supported by all the latest singles and whatever else has been playing at Pop Fugitive HQ.
Nashua Gallagher will be joining Paul in the studio again, not just to sample Easter eggs and biscuits but to provide more insights and reviews from the world of literature. Paul will also be looking at the increasing popularity of retro video games and consoles, following the announcement of the Capcom Home Arcade and the recent leak of specifications for the Playstation 5.
On top of all that there’ll be another splatter platter, gastronomy corner, and all the usual nonsense. Tune in live from 9.30am and you can get in touch with the show by texting 9384 1424 (Sundays, 9.30am-1pm)
