Paul Haswell (AKA the Pop Fugitive) is plotting to make his Escape every Sunday morning between 9.30 and 1.
Join him every Sunday on the Sunday Escape to hear the best in music, with plenty of new records including tracks from his album of the week, as well as interviews with guests from all over the city and beyond. There’s also occasional live music in the studio plus all the details of upcoming music events in Hong Kong.
On top of all that is “Biscuit Review”, now a Sunday Escape institution, to complement the most eclectic mix of music on Radio 3.
On this week’s Sunday Escape, Paul celebrates the release of an astonishing number of eagerly awaited albums, in particular The Return from rapper Sampa The Great, which is album of the week, as well as new albums from Metronomy, Alex Cameron, Charli XCX, The Lumineers, Pixies, (Sandy) Alex G and more! There’s also all the best other newly released songs from the week, with highlights from Wrabel, Green Day, The Knocks, FKA Twigs, Bruno Major and The Heavy. If there’s enough time, Paul will play some of the older stuff that’s been hitting the turntable at Pop Fugitive HQ.
There’s also some sad news however, as songwriter and artist Daniel Johnston passed away this week. Paul will play a few tracks from him and those influenced by him, and look at the incredible influence he had on independent music.
On top of all that there’s a look at a seven-inch box set from Slade, another cover version from Bryan Ferry that nobody wanted, and of course biscuits (which actually look decent this week). Tune in from 9.30am to 1pm!
It’s Father’s Day on Sunday, at the end of a tumultuous week, so the Sunday Escape will be doing its best to reflect that with Paul playing (possibly tenuous) dad-related records, which might be just Dire Straits but if you have any better suggestions then do message the show, as well as honouring some famous dads such as Darth Vader.
In addition to that Paul will of course be looking at all the week’s new music, with new releases from Bat For Lashes, Mattiel, The Raconteurs, Jordan Rakei and Bill Callahan, plus the release of Madonna’s latest album and indeed latest reinvention entitled “Madame X”. There’ll also be a run through of whatever else Paul has been listening to lately, as well as album of the week.
As if that wasn’t enough, Paul will also be looking at the developments coming out of E3 this week, and of course whatever biscuits happen to come his way. Tune in from 9.30am to 1pm!
