Sunday Escape

主持人:Paul Haswell

Paul Haswell (AKA the Pop Fugitive) is plotting to make his Escape every Sunday morning between 9.30 and 1.

Join him every Sunday on the Sunday Escape to hear the best in music, with plenty of new records including tracks from his album of the week, as well as interviews with guests from all over the city and beyond. There’s also occasional live music in the studio plus all the details of upcoming music events in Hong Kong.

On top of all that is “Biscuit Review”, now a Sunday Escape institution, to complement the most eclectic mix of music on Radio 3.

Sheena Is A Punk Rocker

There’s a bumper crop of new records out this week on the Sunday Escape, with loads of new singles plus new albums from Bombay Bicycle Club, Halsey, Mura Masa and Gabrielle Aplin, one of which may well be Paul’s album of the week.
Joining Paul in the studio is Oliver Breit, who’ll be talking about forthcoming punk gigs in Hong Kong gigs from Stiff Little Fingers and Black Flag, which take place on February 11 and March 26, as well as the vibrant punk scene and its relevance to all that’s going on in the world today.
On top of that, Paul has taken delivery of a bumper crop of Scottish biscuits, which will surely feature on the show, plus there’ll be all the usual nonsense including Terrifying Tots On The Pops plus all the random music Paul’s been listening to through the week. Tune in on Sunday from 9.30am to 1pm!

Happy Year Of The Rat!

It’s a festive mood on the Sunday Escape as Paul celebrates the Year of the Rat in style with the finest in tenuously rat-themed music as well as a run through all of the week’s best new releases. This includes the brand new album from the Pet Shop Boys, “Hotspot”, which is their fourteenth studio album and Paul’s album of the week.

As well as celebrating Chinese New Year, Paul is celebrating Burns Night, with some Scottish tracks and possibly even some poetry from Robert Burns. There’s also Paul’s guide to surviving the Chinese New Year holidays and red packet etiquette, which may or may not prove invaluable in the coming days.

Of course there’s all the usual features too, with a tribute to Monty Python great Terry Jones who sadly passed away this week. Plus biscuits. Tune in on Sunday from 9.30am to 1pm !

Ghost Town?

主持人:Paul Haswell

It’s a packed show on this week’s Sunday Escape, as Paul plays all of his new finds including new releases from Beck, Grace Vanderwaal, Deep Tan, Flight Facilities with Aloe Blacc plus Anna Meredith and albums from Caroline Polachek, Battles, Mark Lanegan Band and Foals. One of the albums will be album of the week and naturally there’ll also be the usual mix of random songs that Paul has been listening to.

Joining Paul in the studio at 10am is Jeff Rotmeyer of ImpactHK, talking about all of the work the charity is doing for the poor and homeless in Hong Kong, and updating us on how the kindness and generosity of the people of Hong Kong is transforming lives. Then from 11am Paul welcomes Andrew Spires, the Director of Rotten Head Festival which sadly was cancelled due to the situation in Hong Kong. He’ll be playing some music, talking about the difficult decision to cancel the event, and the impact that recent events are having on Hong Kong’s social scene. He’ll also be highlighting some of the acts and local breweries who were meant to be at the festival.

On the biscuit front, Paul has been in Japan again, so expect what appear to be custard creams with cheese and angel pies. But who knows? There’s also all the usual nonsense, so tune in from 9.30am to 1pm..
