Paul Haswell (AKA the Pop Fugitive) is plotting to make his Escape every Sunday morning between 9.30 and 1.
Join him every Sunday on the Sunday Escape to hear the best in music, with plenty of new records including tracks from his album of the week, as well as interviews with guests from all over the city and beyond. There’s also occasional live music in the studio plus all the details of upcoming music events in Hong Kong.
On top of all that is “Biscuit Review”, now a Sunday Escape institution, to complement the most eclectic mix of music on Radio 3.
There’s a smörgåsbord of music old and new on the Sunday Escape this week, as Paul works his way through the best new releases including tracks from Låpsley, Grace Carter, BADBADNOTGOOD, Caribou and Tame Impala. There’s also a cool looking singles box set from The Beatles just in time for Christmas as well as a new album of the week.
Joining Paul in the studio at 11 is Vince Siu from board game specialists Press Start, who will be talking about their new venture Press Start Academy, which is their move to change education through play and games, encouraging learning and development through play. Given that most of Paul’s education came from playing video games Vince will be showing where Paul went wrong and how learning through games is effective.
On top of all that there’s all the usual nonsense, maybe (just maybe) a Christmas song, and of course biscuits! We have it on authority that this week the biscuits will not poison Paul, so that's something to look forward to... Tune in on Sunday from 9.30am to 1pm.
It’s a show full of the best in new music on this week’s Sunday Escape, as Paul goes through some of the finest releases. There are brand new records from Matt Maltese, FKA Twigs, Beck, Graham Coxon, Frank Ocean, and Alicia Keys, plus, since it’s just Paul in the studio this week, there’s a chance to go through all the new music that you may have missed. There’ll also be another album of the week, which won’t be a Christmas album despite the startling number of Christmas releases out at the beginning of November(!).
This week also sees the release of Death Stranding, the eagerly awaited new video game from Hideo Kojima which stars Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux and Mads Mikkelsen, as well as film directors Guillermo Tel Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn. Paul’s been playing it, and will give his verdict.
On top of that there’s music from the vast number of vinyl reissues, all the other random stuff Paul’s been listening to through the week, and of course in-depth biscuit reporting! Tune in from 9.30 to 1pm.
