Sunday Escape

簡介

GIST

主持人:Paul Haswell and Carolyn Wright

Paul and Carolyn (AKA the Pop Fugitives) are plotting to make their Escape every Sunday morning between 9 and 1.

Join them on the Sunday Escape to hear the best in new music, including three tracks from their album of the week, along with a carefully curated selection of classics, plus interviews with guests from all over the city and beyond. There’s also occasional live music in the studio and all the details of upcoming music events in Hong Kong.

On top of all that is “Biscuit Review”, now a Sunday Escape institution, a feature perfectly designed to complement the most eclectic mix of music on Radio 3.

On this week’s Sunday Escape Paul and Carolyn play all the finest in new music releases, including tracks from Arlo Parks, Claud, Arab Strap and Joel Culpepper plus a look at new albums from Smashing Pumpkins, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Miley Cyrus’ homage to the 80s. There’s also the best older stuff that’s been spinning at Pop Fugitive HQ along with a new album of the week and another Super Clever Music Mystery Quiz.

Friday was Record Store Day, again, so there’ll be a look at the releases coming out of that and whether the law of diminishing returns has well and truly begun to apply given it was the third Record Store Day of 2020. There’ll also be a brief discussion of the hottest gifts for this year’s festive season, purely to help Paul and Carolyn get some ideas, plus a look at the new Playstation 5 console.

On top of all that there’s all the usual nonsense too, including of course biscuits! Tune in live on Sunday from 9am to 1pm.

Serpentine Prison

主持人:Paul Haswell and Carolyn Wright

The Sunday Escape returns for another week of the very best in brand new music, with tracks from Raf Rundell, Songhoy Blues, Lana Del Rey and Gustaf plus on the album front there’s beabadoobee’s debut, a collaboration between Catherine Anne Davis and Bernard Butler, plus the eagerly awaited solo album from The National’s Matt Berninger. Paul and Carolyn will pick just one to be album of the week, along with everything else that they’ve been listening to all week.
With the end of the year slowly trundling into view, a lot of the usual suspects are releasing records for the forthcoming holidays. Paul and Carolyn talk about the flotsam and jetsam of records that have haunted them over the years, as well as the new albums that seem to be intended for those who only buy one record a year, and whether there is even still a market for the “seasonal record”.

On top of that there’s a brand new Super Clever Music Mystery Quiz, plus all the usual features including of course biscuits. There’s also a worrying piece of in depth news on the effect the pandemic has had on biscuit reviews … Tune in on Sunday from 9am to 1pm!
