Sunday Escape

主持人:Paul Haswell and Carolyn Wright

Paul and Carolyn (AKA the Pop Fugitives) are plotting to make their Escape every Sunday morning between 9 and 1.

Join them on the Sunday Escape to hear the best in new music, including three tracks from their album of the week, along with a carefully curated selection of classics, plus interviews with guests from all over the city and beyond. There’s also occasional live music in the studio and all the details of upcoming music events in Hong Kong.

On top of all that is “Biscuit Review”, now a Sunday Escape institution, a feature perfectly designed to complement the most eclectic mix of music on Radio 3.

The Fixer

Paul and Carolyn are back with their weekly delve into the best in music new and old, with new singles from Sunflower Bean and The Bug Club as well as albums from Joy Crookes and Purple Disco Machine among the new records out this week. For old records out this week, the latest Beatles remix from Giles Martin also hits the shelves with a new version of their final studio album “Let It Be”. Given the controversy over the original production this is likely the most eagerly awaited Beatles remaster to date.
On top of all that there’ll be another Super Clever Music Mystery Quiz and B-Side, plus tracks from the Pop Fugitives’ selected indie label of the week which is Chemikal Underground.  With the release of Jarvis Cocker’s new French-language album imminent Paul and Carolyn take time to select their favourite French-language songs (hopefully not “Joe Le Taxi” but you never know) plus there are biscuits. Tune in on Sunday from 9am to 1pm.

There’s No Such Thing As Too Many Records

It’s an absolutely massive week for new albums on this week’s Sunday Escape, as Paul and Carolyn work their way through a deluge of eagerly awaited releases from Self Esteem, Duran Duran, Lana Del Rey, Jarvis Cocker, Parquet Courts, Ritt Momney, My Morning Jacket and Helado Negro. It’s easily the biggest week for album releases in ages, but there’ll still be just one album of the week, plus all the weeks’ best new singles and whatever else has been rocking Pop Fugitive HQ.
Among all the brand new music, there’s still room for some older records too, with another B-Side, selected indie label and Super Clever Music Mystery Quiz to provide an alternative soundtrack to your Sunday. All that, together with details of how Paul and Carolyn have dealt with some disturbing news which has shaken the world of biscuits …
Tune in on Sunday from 9am to 1pm!

Comfort To Me

主持人:Paul Haswell and Carolyn Wright

On this week’s Sunday Escape Paul and Carolyn work their way through all the finest of the week’s new music, with a veritable crate full of records including new LPs from Amyl And The Sniffers, James Blake and Low along with singles from Big Thief, Lana Del Rey and Baba Ali. There’s a tribute to Sarah Harding of Girls Aloud fame also, who sadly passed away this week aged just 39. There are also tributes to two other musicians we lost this week: Magnetic Fields singer Susan Anway and performer and AIDS activist Carl Bean.

All the usual features return of course, with another B side and label of the week. There’s also a listener created Super Clever Music Mystery Quiz, which is possibly the most esoteric and difficult one to date (seriously, it’s practically unsolvable!). All that, plus the usual nonsensical chat and of course biscuits.

Tune in from 9am to 1pm.
