Andrew Dembina presents this one-hour weekly programme devoted to reggae and ska music. With tunes from Jamaica, naturally, and from all around the world, the series will, once again, include tracks and news of happenings in Asia – including our own Hong Kong.
The first instalment is all about brand new music – the very freshest of current reggae and ska. Episode two chronicles some older classics from these genres, and rocksteady. From then on, it’s a tuneful mix of new and old to get the toes tapping and the body skanking from 9pm to 10pm on Saturday nights.
Catch it live: Every Saturday, from 9pm~10pm
This week’s programme (06/04) is the last of the current series of The Saturday Skank. As ever, the current vintage reggae and ska plays are an international mix. We start with the UK, as a tribute to the singer of The Beat – Ranking Roger – who sadly passed away just over a week ago, aged 56. Other hot selects come from the US and Jamaica. From the latter, listen out for a fresh social-reflection from young female singer Shenseea. The Saturday Skank will be back in August.
