This week, CM Chan and Chloe Feng takes a closer look at the fallout from a growing abduction scandal after mainland actor, Wang Xing, was rescued from a scam centre at the Thailand-Myanmar border on Friday last week. The actor had gone missing after falling prey to a sham casting call in Bangkok, where he ended up being trafficked to a scam centre. While Wang is now safe, many other victims remain captives at guarded compounds where they’re forced to perpetrate online scams. Calls are now growing for the authorities to do more to rescue many others believed to still be trapped in similar compounds. How will the authorities respond? Will the actor’s abduction serve as a catalyst for tough action against these criminal syndicates? Find out on thid week's Trending China.

This week, Trending China takes a deep dive into the mainland’s pension system and its move to raise the statutory retirement age.
China has just started a 15-year process to gradually raise the statutory retirement age by up to five years as the nation grapples with an ageing population and a shrinking workforce. It’s the first time the retirement age has been raised since the 1950s, and comes as the state-led pension system faces major financial strain. This Saturday morning on Trending China, CM Chan and Chloe Feng will be joined by Stuart Gietel-Basten, Professor of Social Science and Public Policy at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, to explore the implications of this policy shift. How effective will these measures be in tackling China’s pension dilemma?
