Featured, this week is pianist and xylophonist Jan August with his orchestra playing an ‘oriental’ arrangement from 1951.Superb vocalist, songwriter and actress Abbey Lincoln brings us one of the best known songs from a 1928 operetta. And, there's 'practicing' Bob Chester, and Jack Payne who's talking to the birds!
Ella Logan joins the Dorsey brothers, this week, in a 1932 recording of a toe tapping standard. Another big old tune from a not so well known collection of muso’s comes from the Coon-Sanders orchestra. As you’ve never heard him before, we have Eddie Cochran from the 50s. Plus, there's Benny Lee, Chuck Willis, Johnny Long and... The Duke.
