It's another transportation themed VCT this week, dealing with the likes of Flanders and Swan, Frankie Laine, Judy Garland and cheeky Max Miller. Also, the piano player who started off gigging where he could, while working at the Westminster Gas and Coke Company, and ending up with his own 1955 Cinemascopic short, showing off him and his orchestra with the hit record Stage Coach, featured on our Sunday morning ride this week. Hold very tight please!

A Hot Mike
There’s an old saying in radio; "the mic is always hot", meaning ‘live’, and this week once again it’s Colin Aitchison at the mic introducing a hot jazzer from Mike Daniels And His Delta Jazzband. We also feature a sizzler from the broadway review ‘Spice Of 1922’, on a one sided 78! Errol Garner plays his first 1954 version of what is now a standard, and a huge hit for him by the end of the decade when he re-recorded it for the masses. Theres the first hit for a young Dion and the Belmonts, and a 1947 recording by a performer who would later change his job in showbiz from band leader to music director for the Tonys, becoming the go-to man for big tv events and specials, winning many awards.

A classic ditty about chewing gum that we all thought we knew so well, is a little different in it's original form. Same for an early version of a hit strongly associated with Glenn Miller. Plus, listen to a top, moody and stylish sax feature from the Ken Mackintosh camp, and a massive early 30s hit about "the pride of our ally"! Plus, Colin has a hit single 'B'-side from the 50s.
