Clara Schumann (1819-1896) made her name first as an international pianist and then as the wife of Robert Schumann promoting his music through her concerts.

Her life as a pianist, composer, devoted wife, mother, manager of the household, and editor inspires thoughts towards the challenge of being a female professional and mother in the 19th century, an educator, a contemporary enthusiast etc.

Do join us on Sunday mornings at 10am in September for five episodes devoted to Clara and Other Female Artists, where interviews with conductor Carmen Koon, composer Joyce Tang, singer/doctor Michelle Tsui, and pianist Nancy Loo will share their thoughts inspired by the fascinating life of Clara Schumann. There will be music of hers as well as other female performers and composers.
