Looking 4ward is a way of staying on top of  R4's ever-evolving programme lineup.

My guest this week is David Francis Urrows - educator, historical musicologist, choral conductor, organist and composer and, the creator of the series Franckly Speaking which airs on Sundays at 10 am in Dec. The series is Radio 4’s tribute to César-Auguste Franck on the 200th  anniversary of his birth this month, 10 Dec - an exploration in four programmes of the works of this misunderstood figure in the history of the period between Romanticism and Modernism in European music.

There are also 2 concert  recommendations for you - the 2022/23 season opening concert of the Orchestre de Paris under Klaus Mäkelä with two world premieres, and a concert from the 2022 Mozartfest Würzburg with pianist Seong-Jin Cho and the Bamberg Symphony conducted by Andrew Manze

The programme is a way of staying on top of our ever-evolving programme lineup and looks forward to other things too. This week’s guest is composer Phoebus Lee who talks about Iannis Xenakis, born 100 years ago on 29/5. He discusses his process and some of his compositions, 2 of which you can hear on the  programme. There are also a few concert recommendations coming up for Live on 4. Join us and stay in the know.
