Looking 4ward is a way of staying on top of Radio 4's ever-evolving programme lineup. This year sees the 60th anniversary of HK City Hall. For the anniversary there have been many specially curated performances, some of which were recorded for broadcast by Radio 4. Joining me this week is the acting Head of Radio 3 and former Senior Producer of Radio 4 - who has a major role to play in securing the broadcasting rights to many local concerts and, who has a wealth of experience in technical production - Tse Hung Fei, to talk about these performances. And this week's concert recommendations include one of these celebratory concerts.
Looking 4ward is a way of staying on top of our ever-evolving programme lineup. It's also where you can hear presenters in conversation and get a ‘behind the scenes’ look at Radio 4 and this week's guest is me doing just that. Head of Radio 4 Jimmy Shiu, talks to me about everything I do here and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to share that with you.
There are also our weekly concert recommendations. From Greek mythology to Italian comedy to Austrian folk dance, this week's Minnesota Orchestra concert dives deep into evocative dream worlds and whimsical storytelling. And there is a concert with one of the world's oldest orchestras, the Dresden Staatskapelle and its Chief Conductor at the time, Bernard Haitink, with Mozart's magnificent final symphony and Bruckner's solemn memorial tribute to his musical hero, Richard Wagner.

Looking 4ward is a way of staying on top of Radio 4’s ever-evolving programme lineup. This week a reminder about the series Parade of Chinese Composers presented by Lesley Chan, along with an interview with Jamie Tung Tsz-ching as she explores From Music Society to Chinese Orchestra - Chinese Music Development in Hong Kong (1950s-1980s) in Music from China in Aug. There are also a few concert recommendations - an archive concert with Bernard Haitink and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra recorded at the Philharmonie, Berlin on 1 Apr 1987, and the Minnesota Orchestra under Osmo Vanska “Heart and Hope” recorded at the Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis on 29 Jan 2021
