Student Concert Hall aims to enhance the pleasure of music-making among the younger generation and cultivate the interest in music appreciation in the general community. This programme has been organized partially in response to the spread of COVID-19.

We welcome both solos and groups. We started accepting applications last November and did not expect this pilot scheme would generate such overwhelming response. Eventually it received over 3,000 minutes of music in a huge range of varieties:

•           Instruments: from the standard piano, violin or guzheng, to timpani, harpsichord, harmonica band, percussion ensemble and even electone.

•           Combinations of instruments: from solo, chamber to full orchestral performances.

•           Music genres: from standard Western classical repertoire to slightly avant-garde compositions, traditional Chinese music, and even a little jazz.

•           Level of difficulties: from miniatures for beginners to highly virtuosic showpieces.

•           Recording venues: living room, practice room, clubhouse, recording studio, school playground, concert hall … the widest range may well be the acoustics!

It is amazing to see that Hong Kong has such spectrum of musical interests and possibilities. From April to June, tune in to ‘Student Concert Hall’ on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:10pm, and be enthralled by these accomplished student performers.

 「學界音樂廳」旨在提高同學在演奏／演唱上的樂趣，推動大眾對音樂欣賞的興趣，我們亦希望這節目能有助大眾積極面對2019冠狀病毒病疫情。去年11月，我們呼籲同學以個人或團隊、器樂或歌唱的形式報名參加「學界音樂廳」，結果我們共收到超過3,000分鐘的音樂，實在令人興奮，而當中更十分多元化：

•           樂器：鋼琴、小提琴或古箏等「大路 」樂器外，更有較少見的古鍵琴、定音鼓、口琴隊、敲擊樂、合奏團、甚至電子琴。

•           樂器組合：獨奏、室樂合奏，以至管弦樂團。

•           曲目：標準西洋古典、前衛、中樂，還有少許爵士樂。

•           難度：入門小品以至超技作品。

•           錄音地點：客廳、練習室、會所、錄音室、學校操場、音樂廳、戶外……看來最多元化的，應該算是現場音響效果。

香港有如此寬闊的音樂品味及無限的可能性，實在令人嘆爲觀止。4月至6月，逢星期六、日下午1時10分，請收聽「學界音樂廳」，感受同學的音樂才華。
