The Facebook Dilemma (part 2) explores Facebook’s response to charges of promoting “fake news” and disrupting American politics. This hour show the company’s role sowing division worldwide and the challenges facing the powerful social media platform. The documentary traces how the company failed to respond effectively to warnings from both inside and outside Facebook about everything from potential privacy violations, to “fake news,” to fomenting division and violence across the globe.

社交媒體Facebook成立近14年，用戶數量超過20億，成為最多人使用的社交平台。但隨着用戶不斷增多，影響力亦越來越大。2011年「阿拉伯之春」革命浪潮席捲埃及，外界形容這次革命為「Facebook革命」，反政府團體透過Facebook號召民眾，成功推翻極權政府。但亦有組織被指利用Facebook平台發佈假消息，散播仇恨情緒，煽動民眾作出激烈行為，從而分化社會。另外，輿論亦指Facebook收集大量用戶的個人資料，不但未有妥善處理，更涉嫌用以圖利。面對種種質疑，創辦人朱克伯格如何拆解？

The promise of Facebook was to create a more open and connected world. But from the company’s failure to protect millions of users’ data, to the proliferation of “fake news” and disinformation in the U.S. and across the world, mounting crises have raised the question: How has Facebook’s historic success as a social network brought about real-world harm? The documentary shows a dozen of original interviews and rare footage, investigates a series of warnings to Facebook as the company grew from Mark Zuckerberg’s Harvard dorm room to a global empire.

In the year 2050 there will probably be about 10 billion people on earth. But already one billion people are suffering from hunger. Can we feed 10 billion people at all, or are we threatened by wars over food? Our meat consumption has quadrupled in the last 50 years. But it is animal husbandry that poses a threat to food security. Because in order to get a kilo of meat, the animal needs an X-fold of feed, which in turn is missing in the human food chain. How can we prevent future food shortages? Will we only get enough food in the future thanks to insects, algae and astronaut food? 

本片最年輕的主角是瓦特堡 ── 一輛50多歲的老爺車。這輛車仍在路上行駛，70多歲 的博登(Bogdan) 會載着 94歲的母親卡茲美拉(Kazimiera)四出參加「醜車比賽」。他們更準備遠征波德邊境，探訪父親遇難的納粹集中營和母親被囚的工廠。母子之間的關係特獨詼諧，博登幾乎把所有時間都獻給母親，照顧得無微不至，卻又鬥嘴不斷。

The youngest protagonist of the documentary is Wartburg, an automobile over 50 years of age. The car is still on the road, driven by Bogdan, who is inside it with his mother Kazimiera. This road movie which takes place between the concentration camp of Majdanek, Poland, and a former Nazi labor factory in Germany is actually a journey into the past, retracing the memories from the war. It is also a portrayal of a unique relationship between mother and son. Bogdan devotes almost all his time to Kazimiera – except for the moments when he proudly presents the quaint ugliness of the car to the people he accidentally meets.
