Hi everyone and welcome back to ‘Power Up Your English’! I’m your host, Michelle, and I’ll be giving you tips and talking through ways to get YOU to excel your English.
Coming up in a couple of days on the 11 October is a public holiday, but does anyone know what it is for? I’ll give you a clue. It’s observed by the Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans. Pretty vague clue, isn’t it? Well, let me tell you! The 11 October of this year will be what’s known as Chung Yeung Festival or the Double Ninth Festival as it is also known by.
In today’s episode, we’ll be looking at:
What is the Chung Yeung Festival and how do people celebrate it?
Where did it originate from?
Practical vocabulary and phrases to use during the Chung Yeung Festival
(Sound of wind-sfx)
I hear the mountains calling us, so let’s go!
