Andrew Dembina presents this one-hour weekly programme devoted to reggae and ska music. With tunes from Jamaica, naturally, and from all around the world, the series will, once again, include tracks and news of happenings in Asia – including our own Hong Kong.
The first instalment is all about brand new music – the very freshest of current reggae and ska. Episode two chronicles some older classics from these genres, and rocksteady. From then on, it’s a tuneful mix of new and old to get the toes tapping and the body skanking from 9pm to 10pm on Saturday nights.
Catch it live: Every Saturday, from 9pm~10pm
On this week’s programme (16/02), within our mix of top current and flashback international reggae and ska, we celebrate the first new album release for 37 years by one of the pioneers of UK revival ska: The Specials. As well as current picks from Jamaica and the UK, listen out for, in the month of late lovers’ rock legend Dennis Brown’s birthday, a mammoth single of his from 1979, plus a collaborative reworking of it decades later by two big-name vocalists – one in reggae, the other in US rap.
