Launch of High Speed Rail / Reducing the use of glow sticks and lanterns

On Monday's Backchat, high speed rail. The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link is launched on Sunday September 23. It's cost more than $80 billion and had more than its fair share of legal, environmental and management problems. Is it worth it? How did the first day go? Will it carry enough passengers? What about the ticket cost and ease of buying? Will you use it? What about the political and social impact of the new connection? Call us with your thoughts on 23388266 or email backchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, reducing the use of glow sticks and lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Future of Pan-democrats / Russian poison and ex-spy in the UK

    主持人:Hugh Chiverton and Paul Letters

On Wednesday's Backchat, the future of the pan-dems. What do the results of the by-election mean for the opposition camp? Losing for the first time in head to head, and with a reduced vote share overall, plus the loss of veto in the Legislative Council, is the influence of the pan-dems set to wane? How do you account for the fading fortunes, or is this just a temporary setback? Did they filibuster too much - or simply try to keep a rein on Government finances? Are demographic changes significant? Is it down to a lack of district work, or are they being deliberately sidelined out of existence? What are the lessons for the future? Leading figures will debate the issue and you can join in by calling 23388266 or emailingbackchat@rthk.hk. After 9.20, did Russia poison and ex-spy in the UK, and what might it mean for the World Cup? .
