It’s risk on in US and European markets in a huge relief rally. Shares have surged following Emmanuel Macron's win in the first round of the French election, with new highs for stock indices in the US, UK and Germany. The euro hit is highest level of the year. Safe haven assets such as US and German government bonds, the Japanese yen and gold have seen falls. No such euphoria in China though as mainland stocks though see their biggest falls of the year.
Joining today's Money Talk are Connie Bolland of Economic Research Analysis and Peter Churchouse, author of The Churchouse Letter. On the phone from Tokyo is CLSA’s Japan strategist, Nick Smith. (8am-8.30am, email to email@example.com, text to 63 93 59 25 )
