The latest economic data out of the Mainland shows house price growth has slowed to a 13-month low. The cost of new homes in 70 major Chinese cities rose 8.3% in August. There were monthly falls in 18 cities, double the number seen in July. Prices in Guangzhou were down 0.7% and in Shenzhen by 0.4%.
China’s largest online insurer, ZhongAn, has started an Initial Public Offering in Hong Kong that aims to raise $1.5 billion. Ant Financial is currently the largest shareholder and Softbank would be a cornerstone investor. The FinTech IPO is good news for the Hong Kong Exchange which is targeting new economy companies in an effort to broaden the range of new listings in Hong Kong.
In the markets, the MSCI Asia Pacific Index is at a new 10-year high, with Hong Kong stocks powering ahead in the morning session. India’s Nifty index opened at a new record high. The Japanese yen is weaker following a weekend Nikkei report that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has decided to call a snap general election early next month.

Connie Bolland, Founder and Chief Economist of Economic Research Analysis says inflation is moving up the Fed is likely to raise rates in the US in December, which may help to strengthen the Dollar and soften the real estate market for easier control over the economy.
Rob Koepp, Director of the Economist Corporate Network says China’s clampdown on Bitcoin is justified because Bitcoin itself is a bubble and it creates a hurdle for China’s plan to globalize the RMB.

It’s risk on in US and European markets in a huge relief rally. Shares have surged following Emmanuel Macron's win in the first round of the French election, with new highs for stock indices in the US, UK and Germany. The euro hit is highest level of the year. Safe haven assets such as US and German government bonds, the Japanese yen and gold have seen falls.No such euphoria in China though as mainland stocks though see their biggest falls of the year.
