New batch of Epstein files / Record high Belt and Road investment figures / Social network for AI agents

On Friday's programme, we began with a closer look at the latest tranche of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The millions of documents released by the US Department of Justice contained the names of the rich and the powerful, from Elon Musk to Bill Gates, Republicans, Democrats, British politicians, Israeli intelligence agents, among others.

We then talked to experts on what the implications are, and if Epstein's victims are any closer to getting justice.

After the break, we heard from a scholar about how the Belt and Road Initiative was able to hit a record-high last year in total investment and construction. The mega-project has seen a deepening of economic cooperation in Africa and Central Asia.

And lastly, we talked with our tech correspondent and learn all about 'Moltbook', a social media platform that's designed for AI agents. Should we be amused, or afraid?

Washington DC plane crash / Impact of US tariffs on the shipping industry

    主持人:Janice Wong and Danny Gittings

On Thursday’s Backchat, we’re talking about last week’s tragic collision between an American Airlines jet and a US Black Hawk helicopter in Washington DC which killed 67 people.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of America’s worst aviation disaster in more than 20 years and how the two aircraft were allowed to get so close to one another.
While US President Donald Trump suggested his predecessors’ diversity policies could be to blame, the accident has re-ignited debates over the safety of some of the world’s most congested airports.
So what do we know so far about this accident? Have our skies become too congested? We’ll ask the experts.
In the second part of the programme, we discuss the short-lived suspension of parcel services from mainland China and Hong Kong to the United States, following US President Donald Trump's imposition of tariffs on China.

    9:05am-9:30am: Washington DC plane crash

9:05am-9:30am: Anthony Brickhouse, US based aviation safety expert

9:05am-9:30am: Ronald Bazman, retired air traffic manager at Burlington Air Traffic Control Tower and Approach Control

9:30am-10:00am: Impact of US tariffs on the shipping industry

9:30am-10:00am: Aditya Halan, Chief Technology Officer at Floship

9:30am-10:00am: Alan Lung, political analyst and Co-convenor (International), The Path of Democracy
