On Thursday’s Backchat we will look at youth crime… Police figures show a rise in the number of teens caught up in serious drug offences, and generally, more young people are getting arrested overall.

For example, 430 people between 10 and 20 years old were arrested on drug charges in 2021 – a jump of 35 percent over the previous year.

What’s more, Police Commissioner Raymond Siu says the number of suspects in those cases who’re 16 or younger, has doubled.

There's also been an increase in the number of triad-related arrests among local teens.

Why are more young people getting caught up in crime? What can be done to reverse this trend?
