On Friday’s Backchat we're talking about cross-harbour tunnel toll changes
From 2 August, the tolls on all three cross-harbour tunnels will be adjusted, as part of the government’s two-part plan to ease cross-harbour congestion.
In the first part, the toll for private cars taking the Western Harbour Crossing will go down to HK$60, while those on the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and Eastern Harbour Crossing will go up to HK$30. But taxis will enjoy a flat rate of HK$25 for all three tunnels.
And in the second part of the plan that will be implemented by the end of this year, rush-hour fares for private cars and motorcycles will be introduced.
How effective will this plan be in easing cross-harbour congestion? Will motorists encounter any practical problems?

On Wednesday’s Backchat we’re looking at transgender rights in Hong Kong
In a landmark ruling on Monday, the Court of Final Appeal decided that the authorities had breached the rights of two transgender men, by refusing to allow them to use their new gender on their identity cards, because they had not undergone full sex reassignment surgery.
Ruling in the men‘s favour, Hong Kong highest court called this "an unacceptably harsh burden" on them.
The issue was first brought to court in 2019 after the commissioner of registration refused to review the gender status on the pair's identity cards as they had only undergone hormone treatment and had their breasts removed.
So what exactly will this ruling mean for the transgender population here? Will any laws have to be changed as a result?
