Scrapping of the waste charging scheme / E-sports development

    主持人:Danny Gittings and Ada Wong

On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about the government’s shelving of its proposed waste charging scheme.

Citing opposition from 70-80% of the public, the scheme - which was supposed to finally start on August 1 - has now been postponed indefinitely.
That’s pleased many, from cleaners to restaurateurs and property management companies who said the scheme was too complicated and difficult to implement.
But green groups are furious. They say the scheme's long term benefits would have outweighed any short-term problems and its scrapping undermines Hong Kong’s green commitments.
So what do you think? Is this a pragmatic move? Or does it risk setting a bad precedent?
In the last part of the programme, we talk about legislators' calls to boost Hong Kong's role as an e-games hub.
