We spoke to Executive Council convenor Regina Ip, and Iñaki Amate, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, who organised the high-profile forum.
After the break, we heard about simple exercises and stretches that experts from the Polytechnic University and the Salvation Army say can help alleviate body pains for the elderly.

Talent training survey / Animal abuse cases

    主持人:Danny Gittings and Mike Rowse

On Thursday's Backchat, we're talking about talent training.

A survey by the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resources Management found companies are spending more on upgrading staff skills, with total training costs now averaging almost four percent of employees’ annual base salaries.
Banking, financial services, manufacturing and the hospitality sector all topped the list of industries who devote the most resources to staff training.
But the report also revealed that most companies now allow their staff to use Gen AI, and warned this poses a number of challenges from cybersecurity to copyright risks.
So does this increase in staff training mean that tertiary institutions aren’t doing enough to equip graduates with the right skills? Or is in-house training indispensable no matter how skilled new joiners are?
After 9:45, we look at animal cruelty in Hong Kong, after a man was arrested on suspicion of attacking a cat.

    9:05am-9:45am: Talent training survey

9:05am-9:30am: Michael Gazeley, Co-founder and Managing Director of Network Box Corporation

9:05am-9:45am: Kenneth Kwong, Assistant Professor and Programme Director (Entrepreneurial Management), Department of Marketing, Hang Seng University

9:30am-9:45am: Rita Li, Associate Professor in Economics, Department of Economics and Finance, Hong Kong Shue Yan University

    9:45am-10:00am: Animal abuse

9:45am-10:00am: Kim McCoy, Founder of the Hong Kong Animal Law and Protection Organisation; he is a practicing barrister in Hong Kong and New Zealand
