Basic Housing Units / Labubu craze / Microplastics awareness survey / Month of Portugal

On Tuesday's programme, we talked about the government’s drive to improve living conditions for people who live in subdivided flats. New regulations to be brought in will mandate basic requirements for shoebox flats – including on size, height, and things like requiring windows and toilets in each unit. The first step is for landlords whose flats don’t currently fulfil these new requirements to start registering with authorities next year, before making the needed renovations. We talked to a lawmaker to see how things are going.

We also looked into the Labubu craze that has taken the world by storm.

We then spoke to experts about the dangers of microplastics before finding out all about the “Month of Portugal” in Macau.

Childcare leave for parents with toddlers / Norovirus outbreak in Shenzhen

    主持人:Jim Gould and Ada Wong

On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about the government's plan to provide three days of childcare leave per year to civil servants with children under the age of three.

The measure, which is expected to be introduced in April next year, will benefit around 12,000 employees and comes as the government faces pressure to lead the way in providing family-friendly workplaces.
Responding to unionists' calls for more targeted policies, Secretary for Civil Service Ingrid Yeung did not rule out granting more days in the future but stressed that her bureau had to strike a balance between staff morale and operational needs.
So how does Hong Kong compare to other parts of the world? And which sectors are most family-friendly?
After 9:45, we speak to a doctor about an ongoing norovirus outbreak in Shenzhen.
