The future of ASEAN / China-UK rapprochement

On Friday's Global Focus, we're talking about the future of ASEAN.

Speaking at the ASEAN-China Forum organised by the University Of Hong Kong, China's Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – Hou Yanqi – highlighted Beijing's eagerness to continue forging industrial ties with countries in the region, despite growing concerns that protectionist policies could impact cooperation between emerging industries.
Donald Trump's return to the White House has re-ignited debates over whether the ten-member strong ASEAN can retain its posture of non-alignment, as the return of tariffs could push some countries to rethink their role as part of the block. How confident should we be about the ASEAN's future? We'll ask the experts.
After 9:30, we're about re-engagement between China and the UK, with business leaders calling for a rapprochement.

Deadly Spain floods and extreme weather / PolyU's breast cancer patient mental health initiative

    主持人:Brian Wong and Rainbow Leung

On Wednesday’s Backchat, we’re talking about climate resilience, after historic floods left over 200 dead in Spain’s eastern Valencia region.

Over 10,000 troops and police officers were deployed in hopes of finding survivors after several towns were left submerged in one of Europe’s deadliest such disaster in decades.
The tragedy has re-ignited debates over our infrastructures’ robustness in the face of extreme weather, with some experts here in Hong Kong warning that the territory remained vulnerable to rising waters.
Meanwhile, forecasters expect typhoons in the region to occur more frequently and spread over a longer period, as testified last week by Super Typhoon Kong-rey, which was one of the biggest tropical storms to hit Taiwan in nearly 30 years.
What lessons can be drawn from these recent events?
After 9:45, we learn more about an art initiative launched to foster emotional wellbeing among breast cancer patients
