Web3 development / Hotel investment boost / Wonders of Imperial Carpets exhibition

On Wednesday's Backchat, we looked at blockchain infrastructure development in Hong Kong. Industry group Web3 Harbour and accounting firm PwC Hong Kong have outlined a blueprint to capitalise on blockchain growth through the development of "five key enablers", namely talent, market infrastructure, standards, regulation, funding and economic contribution.

After the break, we switched gears to take a closer look at hotel investments, following data indicating that Hong Kong has secured substantial hotel deals this year. We spoke to a property consultant about the city's potential.

Finally, we dived into Silk Road arts and culture, as the Hong Kong Palace Museum puts over 100 treasures from the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha on display.

Proposed amemdments to harbour protection laws / GPS network disruptions in Hong Kong

    主持人:Jim Gould and Ada Wong

On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about developments surrounding the harbourfront.

In her weekly blog, the Secretary for Development, Bernadette Linn, said she expected promenades along the harbour to span 29 km in total length by the end of this year, with the hope of reaching 34 km by 2028.
The minister's comments came after the government gazetted the Protection of the Harbour (Amendment) Bill, to streamline the procedure for small-scale reclamations, for facilities such as piers and viewing decks.
A "presumption against reclamation" would still exist for large-scale developments.
After 9:45, we're talking about reports of GPS network disruptions having an impact on Hong Kong users over the weekend.

9:05am-9:45am: Proposed amemdments to harbour protection laws

9:05am-9:45am: Ian Brownlee, Managing Director of Planning Consultancy Masterplan

9:05am-9:30am: Ivan Ho, Chairman of the Harbourfront Commission

9:30am-9:45am: Samuel Wong, Project Manager at Designing Hong Kong

9:45am-10:00am: GPS network disruptions in Hong Kong
9:45am-10:00am: Prof. Quentin Parker, Director of the Laboratory for Space Research at The University of Hong Kong
